I’ve never fasted before. What would be a good way to start?
One good option to start is to eat 50% of what you normally would eat one day a week. For example, pick a Wednesday as your partial fasting day. Start the partial fast at 6pm Tuesday & end the fast & begin eating normally again on Wednesday at 6pm. You can cook & eat normally. Just eat 50% of what you normally eat.
In Psalm 35:13 David said: “I humble my soul with fasting.”
When you fast in order to grow in humility, patience, meekness & being led by the Spirit; God will release the promises given in Isaiah 58:6-14 upon you & yours.
Fasting is decreasing your intake of physical nourishment so God can release greater measures of spiritual nourishment of divine goodness, wisdom & strength upon you & your wife, marriage, children, loved ones & all of the categories of people you pray for.
I have no greater joy in life than praying & fasting with friends & sharing the challenge together as the Spirit of Christ releases small measures of His divine wisdom, goodness & strength into the lives of our love ones helping them grow more in divine wisdom & goodness & doing what’s pleasing to God & best for our loved ones & allowing God to break any evil yoke over us. For example, Isaiah 58:6 says:
“Is this not the fast I have chosen to loose the bonds of evil, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, & that you break every yoke”
Together, let’s love & trust in the faithfulness of God, the goodness of God, the kindness of God, the patience of God, the wisdom of God’s word, & the power of God’s word to overcome all darkness as we put our faith in Him to lead us & our loved ones.
