Define repent & believe simply?

Hear truth. Decide you believe it.

Repentance is an inner change of mind. Turning away from an untrue thing. Turning to a truth.

I hear 2+2=4, after I incorrectly had believed 2+2=5: I repent & believe that 2+2=4. I turn away from an untruth to believe a truth.

The prodigal son turned away from God & into a sinful way of life. He felt empty. He decided, “I will turn back to God & my dad.”

Then he took action: Went home. Squared things with God & dad.

Mark 1:14-15 “Jesus came…preaching the gospel…saying… Repent & believe in the gospel…

Acts 2:38 “Peter said… Repent…be baptized in the name of Jesus…for…sins…you shall receive the gift of the Spirit”

“Lord, help us see that to repent includes changing your mind to agree with a truth from God’s word such as : God has a plan for your life. God works all things together for good. Give my heart a fervent desire to: See a promise as true: Put my faith in it. Believe it til the Spirit brings it into my own real life experience. Amen”
