My child is an out of control 8 year old. He’s outgoing, kind, strong willed & self-absorbed?

Be always gentle, sincere, honest & vulnerable in daily eye-ball to eyeball, heart-to-heart talks about what is forbidden & required. Be sympathetic & kind when he is talking. Be always firm, consistent & truthful about what’s expected. Then tell of consequences that’ll be applied if he doesn’t obey. Talk to wise friends to fine tune a game plan.

What is the goal of all of this?

To show how much you love him by lovingly guiding him to be open & honest about struggles & to listen & grow till it’s resolved.

This says “We always love you” & “We want you to obey because we love you & want what’s best for you.” “Trust us & obey us.”

Col 3:20-21 “Children obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to God…do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. Amen.”
