God’s judgments stand in grace & remove all lawlessness that hinders love. They make a way for repentance, restoration & grief, pain & loss. How did God’s people pray after the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC?

Based on Ps 79:1-13 “O God, the nations have come & taken Your chosen land, Your possession. Jerusalem lies heaped in ruins Your holy temple in defilement. They’ve left the bodies of Your servants as food for the birds. Blood has flowed like water all around. How long: O Lord, will You be angry?…will Your jealousy burn? Pour out Your wrath upon the nations who stubbornly refuse to call upon Your name. Let mercy, mercy, mercy come & meet with us. Help us, O God, help us. Save us, O God, save us.

For the glory & honor of Your name, have mercy on us & bring mercy, repentance & restoration”
